Sonnet for September 11
A Sonnet for September 11
On the 10th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. and in the skies above Pennsylvania, I said my peace through poetry.
Here is my Sonnet for September 11.
(It is a 14 line sonnet poem in the form
of a Shakespearean Sonnet.)
Update - on the 13th anniversary this sonnet is now available through HubPages. I hope many new eyes get to read these words

A Sonnet for September 11
Also known as "A Sonnet for 9/11"
Un-foretold that bright September morning
Two Towers filled with throngs of busy souls
Some would meet tragic death without warning
Others would be thwarted from life's goals
I watched, stricken with moist eyes hypnotized
The roiling debris cloud from Towers' fall
At soot coated minions shocked and surprised
Escaping from what was noble and tall
Remember this smoky scene in years hence
And those brave souls in Shanksville and D.C.
One cannot fetter evil with a fence
So vigilance now works to keep us free
We've need become more cautious these last years
Of that which lurks in shadows then appears
